Abstract

Cyber Ranges are virtual polygons dedicated to the training of professionals in the cybersecurity sector, consisting of controlled and safe environments and systems, typically based on virtualization, that lend themselves to a wide variety of uses: • individual training and updating of cybersecurity through practical exercises, also using instruments that are always state of the art; • training and assessment of the skills of teams of operators through exercises, typically between attackers (red teams) and defenders (blue teams); • design, development and testing of new tactics, techniques and procedures of cybersecurity applicable and applied to systems of real complexity, while allowing both quantitative and qualitative assessments; • assessment of a system's defense and resilience capabilities. The CINI National Cybersecurity Laboratory (www.consorzio-cini.it) has started the CyberRange.IT strategic project at national level. The project, the first in Europe of its kind, aims to create an academic Cyber Range network, distributed throughout the national territory, each specialized on different vertical domains. The presentation will present the Turin node of this network: the hybrid CINI-Links Cyber Range, able to combine the flexibility offered by virtualization mechanisms with the use of physical devices related to vertical application domains. Specifically, these will be IoT applications, industrial control systems (and, more generally, the so-called cyber-physical systems) and robotic service applications; obviously, these are all domains that can be traced back to the Enterprise 4.0 framework.
